Feel free to post the URL of this post where-ever you like – sure send it to the Leaf, I would be happy for it to be hardcopy-published.
The idea that high-powered medicines are going to fix us despite our actions always bites us in the rear. DES, Phen-Fen, Vioxx, Avandia, and now the PPI’s to name but a few of our mis-adventures on the other side of the risk vs. benefit equation.
Sure, in the right person, at the right time even some of these may be ‘good’… but that is personalized medicine… not the cook-book treat-em-and-street-em style promoted by the insurance company’s policies and the pharmaceutical industry’s commercials and advertising.
